|Peter Mullan ~ Biography|
Award winning Scottish actor/director blessed with a two bottles of Scotch chased down by twelve packs of cigarettes voice. Social activist, firebrand, self-described Marxist and raised in Glasgow.
Has a tendency to play those misunderstood souls that would scare you in a dark alley. Or even a director in a cushy chair. (To be fair, the director did tell him, 'Scare me')
So yes, misunderstood souls like a mobster who has dementia. A short Death Eater with a long blond plait who would have made The Deathly Boring Hallows so much more interesting if he had captured Hermoine. Yet sometimes, he's your typical Joe that chase down moving cars and paints them. Or a proud new Papa that kills his neighbors in the close because he has to protect of his daughter. A drug dealer who nicely hails a cab when his client is about to crash.
And there's usually a bathtub that's makes an appearance. (And no, Sel's not posting all those pics). Or else he breaks out in song.
Selmak is the nom de l'internet of someone who normally refuses to admit that she runs this site in real life. Would you, really, admit to a strange fascination with assorted character actors? The fact that all the actors are older than her probably signfies something deep and Freudian. As with the rest of the site, if you are Peter or if you are Peter's representative and you wish anything removed, just shoot Sel an email and she'll do so willingly. However, if you want the entire Peter site to disappear (along with the Rab Nesbitt screen caps of Peter as a Scottish Satan Worshipper who prances around in the alltogether, slaying unicorns and deflowering virgins through methods of sexual depravity), you're gonna have to cough up an autograph. Ok - seriously Peter, all you'd have to do is growl at Sel and she's start sobbing, cuz dude, you are SCARY. (GRIN)
|Peter Mullan ~ What's New?|
January 7, 2013 ~ Sel's bored as she was just made redundant. 'Nuff said. Mandatory disclaimer ~This is a completely unofficial site. I have no idea how to contact him. Really. And if you are him, well, Sel is snarky as hell, please don't sue as I'm unemployed and have no money. And as you've guessed, I have no mad html skills either. And if you're looking for personal info on the actor, (age, marital status (just seeing if you're really reading this)) go elsewhere as Sel firmly believes that she doesn't need to disseminate that to the masses. Pretty much Sel's motto is don't know, don't care.
January 16, 2013 ~ still building the site. Peter will be in Top of The Lake ~ a New Zealand production that will be seen on the Sundance Channel. It's Peter's typical happy fare; A detective investigates the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant daughter of a local drug lord. Guess who plays the local drug lord? The first twelve guesses don't count. People involved include Lucy Lawless (XENA!) and David Wenham (Faramir from the Lord of the Rings),
January 19, 2013 ~ Top of the Lake trailer at the Sundance Channel.
The screen caps section is busy filling in. Problem is a great deal of his stuff isn't available in the states so Sel is doing what she can. Go ahead, give Sel the sad Fugee face.
January 24, 2013 ~ Sel is once again among the gainfully employed, so the updates will be slowing. For your viewing, please check out, To Build a Home/Breathe by Up the Resolution using Cinematic Orchestra music and featuring Peter and Julia Ford. Very serious subject matter.
Got some screen caps of Peter in a children's TV show. Yeah, Sel had to check that out as she thought it was one of the Brother Grimm's Versions - the real one where everyone gets killed by marauding giants not the sanitzed one. Some more information on Top of the Lake.
January 27, 2013 ~
And Sel managed to locate Peter as Peter the Warlock, one of his early TV appearances. Really. Sel laughed so hard Sel thought Sel dislocated something. 'Course honestly demands that Sel saw it at two AM after spending too much time fixing the damn plumbing. And another "OMG he looked so YOUNG then" screen caps from The Steamie. Balanced out all that youthfulness with Mother Superior and that leather jacket (!!!) from Trainspotting. Feel free to jump on over to the link section as Sel's pulled together a bunch of stuff from across the internet. Podcasts, interviews etc.
February 2, 2013 ~
More screen caps ~ Criminal.
February 3, 2013 ~
Screen caps from The Claim aka Peter went to Canada and decided to develop hypothermia.
February 5. 2013 ~
Shallow Grave with Gary Lewis, Ewan & Christopher Eccleston (NINNNNEEEEE!)
February 8, 2013 ~
Ordinary Decent Criminals screen caps
February 9, 2013 ~
Interesting set report on Peter's role as an American GI in post-WWII occupied Japan who runs an enlisted club. "Out of this World" Sel thinks that she needs to track this film down as it sounds simply fascinating, and really Peter with an American accent. (Plus it promises to be a challenge to locate which is all the fun of this website.)
February 24, 2013 ~
Happy Fugee Face! Syd from Children of Men makes an appearance in the screen cap section.
March 23, 2013 ~
Some interviews with Peter. Peter Mullan ~ Prince of Darkness.
Peter Mullan - he's a nasty piece of work. Apparently he's really the star of Warhorse as he had a love affair with Joey that they cut out.
April 23, 2013 ~
The Scottish band Texas just released their official video for "The Conversation" starring Peter. Yes they're the same band that had Alan Rickman dancing the tango at a Petrol Station. (Sorry, Peter, pardon me while I have my own 'personal summa'). Sadly, Peter doesn't tango, but he does fill out a suit nicely.
April 24, 2013 ~ Managed to locate video of Peter in that Scottish Play with Iain Glen. Also - David McKay's got some video of Peter. David's like Gary Lewis, you shake a Peter Mullan pix and one of the other falls out. They were both in Close, My Name is Joe... In the hopes in adding some much needed class to the site, can Sel present The Scottish Play screen caps?
April 28, 2013 ~ Out of this World. A few screen caps that I acquired in a few odd spots. Still working on obtaining a copy as well, Sel enjoys a challenge.
May 14, 2013 ~ Peter's new role will be in a movie with the Loch Ness Monster. I kid you not. The film is a character-driven horror thriller that is an update on the Loch Ness monster myth. The story follows a family hiding their own secrets who encounter dark forces on a weekend holiday near Loch Ness. It will shoot in late 2013. My personal favorite snarky internet comment "The badass Peter Mullan versus Nessie? My money's on Mullan!"
June 13, 2013 ~ The Liability and Stone of Destiny screen caps are up. Sadly, Peter did not recieve the award for the Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Mini-Series in the 2013 TV Critics' Choice award for Top of the Lake. Other than that, Sel finally got a hold of The Fixer - where Peter is described as "... the always excellent Peter Mullan as the trio's grim Scottish boss, whose voice ives the nation's subwoofers a good rumble everytime he's on-screen."
June 16, 2013 ~ The Fixer Series 1 screen caps are up.
June 17, 2013 ~ Fairy Tale: A True Story - with Peter as Sgt. Farmer are up.
June 18, 2013 ~ The Trial of Tony Blair is up.
