Don S. Davis ~ First Contact Con ~ Smiley

What is Vegemite you ask? Wasn't that something from a Man at Work song?

I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich.

Vegemite is a dark brown, salty food paste made from yeast extract, used mainly as a spread on sandwiches and toast, and occasionally in cooking. Smiley is dangerous, as she and the Vegemite grrrls always present lucky con guests with their very own tube of Vegemite. For more info on the con, go to Smiley's live journal.

Don hanging out.

Don, knowing that the taste of Vegemite is an acquired taste,
decides to smile and pose.

While Don was in Oz, it was ANZAC day. What is is ANZAC day?

ANZAC Day - 25 April - marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The acronym (ANZAC) stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose soldiers quickly became known as ANZACs themselves. The pride they took in that name endures to this day, and ANZAC Day remains one of Australia and New Zealand's most important national occasions.

Anyone that's had the pleasure of meeting Don knows his opinion on the military.

Smiley explains, [As it was ANZAC Day, they took Don to ] "Watsonia Barracks for the dawn service and as a thank-you for coming to Australia they had gotten him an actual Australian Army Hat! The hat looked awesome and when Don put it on he really did actually look Australian. He was really honoured and it was very great!"
